Check the Battery Voltage

Postby martin007 » 16 Sep 2018, 23:29

The batteries of my powerchair are housed inside plastic boxes.

I want to check the batteries voltage without having to remove the boxes from the powerchair.
The boxes (batteries) are connected in series with anderson connectors.
The voltage of the first batteries can be checked, but the second does not.

What do you suggest to me?

Measure the voltage at the the 3 pin charging socket ...this is the combined voltage of both batteries...take away the voltage of the battery that you can get at... and viola ...a simple bit of math gives you the reading of the second battery.

Fuse blown maybe? Or press the reset button to reset the breaker on the battery box.

Do math or measure the voltage at the charging port?

The powerchair works well.
I just want to check the voltage (individual) of each battery.

THE VOLTAGE OF BOTH BATTERIES ...MINUS THE VOLTAGE OF ONE ...EQUALS THE VOLTAGE OF THE OTHER!

Example.

24.6v ( voltage of both batteries measured at the charging port ) MINUS 12.2v ( the voltage of the one battery that you can get at and measure ) = 12.4v ... Which is the voltage of the other battery that you cannot get at ....Yes?

Can I measure the voltage from the charging port?

Does the joystick have to be off or on?

Will not the joystick be damaged when measuring the voltage?

Yes you can measure the voltage at the charging port ...it is connected directly to the batteries.

Have the joystick OFF.

No you will not damage the joystick.
